Buyer – Confidential – Milano
The Buyer is responsible for working to create an exciting and timely product assortment that meets or exceeds the sales volume and profits for their departments. Must work cross functionally on marketing strategies and instore presentation to achieve goals.
The Buyer works to create a balanced assortment in terms of trend, brand, price point, seasonality, style/SKU count, and key item depth
Buyer should give feedback regularly on the product in all styleout and product related meetings.
Suggest category extensions/brand exclusives for further growth
Continually create newness in concepts to add freshness to the assortment
Provide ad hoc statistical reports upon request.
Help to maintain accurate Buy Sheets by class.
Maintain some excel reports for buyers and planners as needed.
Take photos of samples when needed and maintain photo logs or libraries of samples.
Manage the samples within the Department. Obtain samples from vendors for all product meetings and manage the safe return of all samples.
Ensure that all kept samples are neatly organized by classification and by season. Regularly clear out old samples and maintain tidy sample area.
Manage photo handover weekly where new product gets shot for the web.
Communicate clearly, concisely, timely, and professionally in all meetings
Ensure all written documents (including email) are grammatically correct.
Develop collaborative relationships with internal colleagues including: production, planning, creative, catalog, etc. Listen to others; be a team player and a healthy competitor.
Gain understanding of all roles and responsibilities within the organization and be flexible and cooperative in working with teams to achieve a common goal.
Buyer – Qualifications
1 to 2 years in direct buying office is preferred.
Demonstrate an understanding of the target customer and the ability to select the appropriate products and brands that will appeal to the customer and fit within the aesthetic.
Strong understanding of industry trends with the ability to translate them into innovative and relevant ideas that appeal to the customer.
Strong market awareness: exhibited through knowledge of relevant brands and reference points
Fundamental understanding of the statistical components of the business.
Exhibit a professional communication style (both verbal and written) as shown through strong presentation skills, excellent organizational skills, a high sense of urgency, and the ability to present and support a point of view.
The ability to prioritize tasks in order to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business with a high sense of urgency.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn new computer systems quickly and retain the information.
